African Drumming at the Library

HAF/HAP

Come and join our African Drumming workshop at your local library this summer as part of the library challenge.

Experience a taste of African culture through music in this fun and interactive workshop where participants will have the opportunity to play a traditional West African piece of music using Djembe Drums.

African Drumming is fun, energising and can be enjoyed by all ages, backgrounds and abilities. No special musical skills are required. Everyone is given their own instrument and within minutes the group comes together, promoting a feeling of community and team spirit.

It's free to attend.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. But please only book a space for the amount of children wishing to attend.

If you suddenly can't make it, please cancel your booking to enable another child to attend (as there are limited spaces and resources available for this event).

Please contact the library for more information.

These sessions have been offered as part of The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, which is funded by the Department of Education. HAF is offered to those in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. For other HAF sessions taking place over the summer holidays please visit their website: https://www.haf.worldjungle.org.uk/summerhaf23all

There are sessions for 3-7 year olds and 8-12 year olds of 30 minutes each.

The Library Challenge aims to encourage children aged three to 12 years old and their families to discover everything their library service has to offer.

Children can find out what their library means to them by completing a range of tasks, including reading any books they choose, taking part in events and getting into nature.

Participants will receive incentives and prizes along the way, with a firm focus on discovering new interests and having fun.

Running from 15 July to 16 September 2023, The Library Challenge aims to encourage children and families to access their local library services and celebrate their own journey.

The theme is music and there will be plenty of tuneful fun and excitement to be had, with a whole host of events happening across the county.
